How can cities foster local agriculture, within a logic of urban and peri-urban production, encouraging gardens and markets across the city while also guaranteeing demand for producers in the municipality and region? How can we plan production units, market access and the agroecological transition while at the same time guaranteeing healthy food for the most vulnerable population?
To reflect on possible paths for urban food supply integrated with the promotion of healthy eating, the operational challenges commonly encountered, the needs of public administration, and how to implement an interdisciplinary policy, the City of Belo Horizonte is offering the seminar Urban Agriculture, Food Supply and Access to Healthy Food, open to all LUPPA participants.
This is also an opportunity to identify shared challenges and potential with the city of Belo Horizonte, for the future selection of the cities that will receive mentoring from Belo Horizonte.
This seminar is especially relevant for officials working in planning, food supply, agriculture, job and income generation, and food security.
