On March 1, at 10 a.m., we held the seminar Healthy school environment, offered by IDEC – Instituto Brasileiro de Defesa do Consumidor (Brazilian Institute for Consumer Protection). In this seminar we reflected on how the school environment can promote adequate and healthy eating for Brazilian children and adolescents.

The school environment plays a fundamental role in educating children and adolescents to become critical citizens who know how to make appropriate and responsible choices. In addition, schools should be places that work to promote adequate and healthy eating. We discussed how the school environment can be transformed into a safe place that promotes adequate and healthy eating, both inside the school and in its surroundings.

The seminar was led by Giorgia Russo, representing IDEC, and Larissa de Loures of GEPPAS/UFMG. Nova Lima and Sobral shared some of their experiences on the subject.

Below we share the full seminar.
