On May 31, at 10 a.m. (Brasília time), we held the seminar Broadening the view on food: a food system and food environment approach, offered by GEPPAAS – Grupo de Estudos, Pesquisas e Práticas em Ambiente Alimentar e Saúde (Group for Studies, Research and Practice on Food Environment and Health) of the Federal University of Minas Gerais – UFMG, and GEPAD – Grupo de Estudos em Agricultura, Alimentação e Desenvolvimento (Study Group on Agriculture, Food and Development) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul.
In this seminar we reflected on how the shape of food systems and food environments determines the population’s health and true universal access to healthy food. How can cities ensure healthier food environments that promote changes in eating habits and a positive impact on public health, and that are also more inclusive and democratic?
