Children are agents who transform the habits of their families and communities – and through them we can expand the reach of Food and Nutrition Education (EAN) and bring transformative narratives to groups and territories.

On August 23, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., we will hold a seminar on the importance of bringing children stories about healthier and more sustainable food systems as a way to strengthen the EAN agenda and foster narratives that highlight the importance of more resilient food systems with positive impact, acting to transform mindsets.

To do so, we will welcome Kelly Alves, a consultant on food and nutrition public policy at the organization ACT Promoção da Saúde, who will speak about the relevance of an interdisciplinary perspective and the role of supplementary teaching materials in strengthening the EAN agenda.

Mónica Guerra, director of Instituto Comida do Amanhã, will share the experience of Poliniza, a lab for creating fantastic children’s books, produced collaboratively in one week. Poliniza is a project that works directly toward strengthening the EAN agenda, and we will explain how each city can make use of the content produced to strengthen its local agenda.

We will reflect on how education departments can be part of this movement to create and disseminate these books about food systems and give real food the space it demands, engaging teachers and the school community.
