On July 26, at 10 a.m. (Brasília time), we held the seminar SOFI Results and the Brazilian Context, offered by FAO Americas. In this seminar we reflected on the results of SOFI 2023 and Brazil’s situation in this context. The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World (SOFI) is a flagship annual report jointly prepared by FAO, IFAD, UNICEF, WFP, and WHO to report on progress toward ending hunger, achieving food security, and improving nutrition, and to provide in-depth analysis of the main challenges to achieving this goal in the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The report is aimed at a wide audience, including policymakers, international organizations, academic institutions, and the general public. The seminar was led by João Intini, Food Systems Policy Officer at FAO Americas. He worked at the Ministry of Agrarian Development as a technical advisor to the office of the Secretariat of Family Farming, deputy director, and general coordinator for the promotion of technical assistance and rural extension at the Secretariat of Family Farming. Intini was also director of DECOM – the department supporting the procurement and marketing of family-farm production, at the Secretariat of Food and Nutrition Security of the Ministry of Social Development – and director of Agricultural Policy and Information at the National Supply Company (Conab).
